Against the sources it cites
When a figure cites a standard, a certificate or a study published online, Velydian opens it and checks the figure against it.
Coming soon · For sustainability and ESG teams
A sustainability report states a scope total, a baseline year and a reduction. Velydian for sustainability reporting is built to tie each stated figure to the table it came from and to recompute what can be recomputed.
“Our Scope 1 and 2 emissions have fallen by 30% since 2019.”
Emissions table: baseline year 2020, 48,200 t CO2e; 2025, 37,600 t CO2e (−22%).
Report annex, emissions table
The report’s own table shows a 22% fall from a 2020 baseline, not 30% since 2019.
The stakes
Green claims in the EU that give vague, misleading or unfounded information. 40% have no supporting evidence at all.
European Commission, Green claimsSEC penalty on DWS for misleading statements about its ESG investment process.
US SEC press release 2023-194 (Sep 2023)Record greenwashing penalty for Vanguard Australia: a bond fund claimed exclusions that most of its holdings were never screened for.
ASIC 24-213MR (2024)Penalty for Mercer: “Sustainable Plus” options marketed as excluding fossil fuels, alcohol and gambling held companies in all three.

Each one with the claim, the passage Velydian reads, and the verdict. Examples for illustration.
“Emissions have fallen by 30% since 2019.”

The report’s own table gives 22%, from a different baseline.
“Total Scope 1 and 2: 12,400 t CO2e.”
Scope 1: 7,900 t; Scope 2: 5,300 t. Sum: 13,200 t.Needs Revision
The parts do not add up to the stated total.

Not another fact checker
Velydian checks the figures. It also weighs what a report does with them: the explanation it gives and how strongly it states it. A reduction can be right and the sentence around it can still mislead readers and assurers.
“Our switch to renewable power cut emissions by 22%.”Needs RevisionSource: the report’s own emissions annex. Example for illustration.
Totals, baselines, reductions and scopes, checked against the data behind them.
Does the table say 22% or 12%?
Whether a conclusion follows from the source, or reaches further than it.
Did the switch do this, or something else?
Whether the statement is as strong as its evidence, and what was left out.
Would an assurer see the whole picture?
How it works
PDF, Word, text or Markdown, or paste it in. Velydian finds each figure and claim and checks it in one of three ways.
When a figure cites a standard, a certificate or a study published online, Velydian opens it and checks the figure against it.
Attach the emissions inventory, the certificates or the supplier data, and every figure is checked against them. You see the price before it starts.
Velydian searches official websites, research databases and the wider web, keeps the strongest sources and checks the claim against them.
Three layers of checking
Totals that do not add up, baselines that move, a scope quietly narrowed.
A baseline year moved from 2019 to 2020 without a note.
Claims the data does not support, vague claims with nothing behind them, and what was left out.
The metric that fell is headlined; the one that rose stays in the annex.
When a figure rests on a summary, Velydian looks for the data or certificate itself.
A press article is flagged, with the certificate offered instead.
One verdict per claim
The data checked backs the figure as written.
Close, but a total, the baseline or the scope does not match the data.
The data does not back the claim, or says something different.
No data could be read or found that settles it, for example an inventory you did not attach.
Open any verdict to see the passage and the reasoning behind it. Correct a line or swap a source and it is checked again. Velydian weighs the evidence; your team decides what to change.
How we test it
Our published test results so far are on company reports: see Velydian for Finance. For every other kind of document, the best test is one of your own.
Review the verdict and the reasoning yourself: every one shows its evidence.

Early access
The sustainability layer is built and not yet switched on. Early-access firms send one report; we run it with them and they decide whether to go further. Nothing is charged for that first run.
The general engine works on any document today: every claim checked against the sources it cites, sources it finds, or your own files.
Questions
The general engine checks any report against its sources or your own files today. The sustainability layer, which recomputes totals and reductions, is built and not yet switched on.
Request early access below. We run your first report with you, and you decide whether to go further.
No. It does the tracing and gives your assurance provider an audit trail to start from. The assurance opinion stays with them.
Three places. The sources your document cites; sources Velydian finds on official websites, research databases and the wider web for claims without a citation; or your own files, if you attach them.
When you run a check, your document’s text is sent over an encrypted connection to our servers and AI services in Switzerland and the EU. To find evidence, short search queries built from your claims are sent to web and scholarly search services. Your document’s content and results are deleted automatically about 24 hours after your check; source links and summary data are kept.
English is measured and in daily use. German and French are in validation.
Velydian supports human review. It shows the evidence behind every verdict so you can decide. In high-stakes work, expert judgement stays essential.
